Retouching…How much is too much?  I usually take a conservative approach but, since I tend to underexpose by 1/3 stop anyways, I always have to do ‘something‘ to a photo.

I took this photo yesterday. I don’t think it’ll be a ‘keeper’ but it illustrates what’s involved in the editing of a photograph.  I gave the photo an intial treatment in Lightroom which is usually enough.  But for beauty headshots, I tend to send them to Photoshop.  In this case, I adjusted the levels, tweaked the eyes and lips, fixed a few ‘lumps and bumps‘ (which we all have), ‘burned’ the eyebrows, removed a few hairclips (you can’t see them but I can, lol) and highlighted the hair.  And finally, removed  most of the stray hairs…

Even as I’m looking at it, I’m thinking about more adjustments I can apply to the photo.

The model was Bambie and the MUA was Becky.
