Retouching…How much is too much? I usually take a conservative approach but, since I tend to underexpose by 1/3 stop anyways, I always have to do ‘something‘ to a photo.
I took this photo yesterday. I don’t think it’ll be a ‘keeper’ but it illustrates what’s involved in the editing of a photograph. I gave the photo an intial treatment in Lightroom which is usually enough. But for beauty headshots, I tend to send them to Photoshop. In this case, I adjusted the levels, tweaked the eyes and lips, fixed a few ‘lumps and bumps‘ (which we all have), ‘burned’ the eyebrows, removed a few hairclips (you can’t see them but I can, lol) and highlighted the hair. And finally, removed most of the stray hairs…
Even as I’m looking at it, I’m thinking about more adjustments I can apply to the photo.
The model was Bambie and the MUA was Becky.
