Sunday picture post

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

Since it’s a Sunday, here is a photograph of one of the stained glass windows in the Cathedral Church of St Carthage in Lismore, Co Waterford. It’s a cropped version of the original.

Oddly enough, there’s an official notice at the front gate stating that, in 1962, the Minister for Local Government signed an order prohibiting further internments in the cemetary. However, there is a ’schedule’ of people who can be buried there.

Strange but true.

P.S. It looks like the photograph has been ’squeezed’ a bit by being in this central column.  Apologies.

Argentinian Tall Ship visits Dublin

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

The ARA Libertad is visiting Dublin this weekend. It’s huge and mightly impressive. I didn’t have time to wait around until the official opening so I had to content myself with taking photos of the ship’s exterior. This is the figurehead at the front of the ship. Isn’t she pretty?
